VOCAB. is a small independent clothing line recently formed by my brother and myself. The brand’s intention is to “undefine” the norm whilst it maintains simplicity as a key aesthetic.

By “undefine”, the brand resists and opposes the generality of most t-shirt design expectations. This is clear through VOCAB.’s signature detail on the back of each and every shirt where the sizing and care information is printed on the outside, rather than on the inside. Details on the outside are visible in order to ignore or “undefine” society’s insecurities surrounding sizing.

Not only this, but VOCAB.’s priority when it comes to design is the logic behind the typography. The generality of t-shirts on the market represent a company through logos for people to read, however shouldn’t the logo appear legible for the actual wearer? This concept led to VOCAB.’s flipped up typography which remains consistent in each design.

The brand hopes to grow by releasing different vocabulary on their tees and there is potential for hoodie and long-sleeved additions to the collection. The first two unisex t-shirt designs are now available in 100% cotton from sizes S, M and L.
